Role

Orenda is looking to hire a Project Manager to join its Execution team. This individual will proactively manage a portfolio of energy storage projects in New York City through site design, permitting, construction and commissioning, up to the point the projects receive a certificate of occupancy (CO) and permission to operate (PTO). If you are interested in taking ownership of your work at a leading infrastructure developer in a rapidly growing industry, this position is for you.

What You’ll Do

• Continuously source new service firms and contractors to support the execution of your projects and benchmark existing contenders. As need be, negotiate scope work, associated costs and contractual terms for services required to advance your projects.
• Manage and enforce contracts executed in support of projects. Negotiate change orders when required. Process pay applications and invoices in a timely manner.
• Ensure compliance of your projects to applicable standards, regulations and other stakeholder requirements.
• Proactively manage project schedules with a view to protect key milestone dates and absorb delays, without extra costs.
• Set up and manage cost controls to keep track of project costs and avoid project overruns. Continuously seek opportunities to capture savings.
• On a weekly basis, align with other members of the Execution Team and third party project partners on permitting, design, procurement and construction.
• As need be, visit project sites and meet with stakeholders.
• On a monthly basis, maintain executive dashboards and lead project reviews for the projects in your portfolio to capture progress made and challenges met.

Qualifications

• College degree in project management or logistics
• 5+ years of experience managing multiple construction projects in parallel.
• Expert practitioner of Procore, Microsoft Project and Smartsheet.
• Comfortability and fluency in understanding engineering drawings.
• Excellent problem solver with an affinity for difficult problems and following through to solve them.
• Strong ability to anticipate challenges and address them pro-actively and with agility.
• Extremely organized and process oriented.
• Keen attention to detail. You don’t need someone to inspect your work. And when you’re inspecting someone else’s, no matter their seniority, you point out errors or inconsistencies.
• You are clear about fact versus interpretation and would never pretend to know anything that you don’t. You’re comfortable identifying gaps in your knowledge and asking for help.
• This role is based in NYC; there is no flexibility for remote work – we come to our Dumbo, Brooklyn office every day.

• Relentlessly positive attitude, strong work ethic, and sense of humor.

Bonus Points

• Experience in energy infrastructure projects.
• PMP certification.
• Strong experience in costing project construction.
