Requirements
  • A high school diploma or GED is required.
  • Successful completion of a refrigeration training program or equivalent is required.
  • At least 6 years of experience in air conditioning and refrigeration in a hospital or related environment is required.
  • Experience applying principles, concepts, and practices concerning mechanical equipment, facility, and service operations is required.
  • Experience monitoring and utilizing facilities maintenance tools and equipment, including pumps, gearboxes, motors, refrigerators, and HVAC equipment, is required.
  • Experience leading and coordinating facility maintenance, repairs, and renewals is required.
  • Experience with computer maintenance management systems is required.
  • Experience with building automation systems, such as Metasys, and applicable building systems including steam, chilled water, compressed gases, heat exchangers, and HVAC is required.
  • Basic proficiency in Microsoft software and end-user proficiency in computer maintenance management system software are required.
  • Strong knowledge of standards, guidelines, and regulations pertaining to facility operations and maintenance is required.
  • EPA Refrigerant Recovery Certification is required.
  • A Refrigeration Engineer First Class License from the Memphis and Shelby County Office of Construction Code Enforcement is required.
  • A Steam Engineer First Class License from the Memphis and Shelby County Office of Construction Code Enforcement is required.
  • The employee must be physically able to stand, walk, sit, use hands, reach, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, and frequently lift or move up to 50 pounds.
  • The employee must be able to comply with applicable federal, state, and local safety and health regulations.
Responsibilities
  • Provide comprehensive technical service and support and safely supervise, monitor, operate, and maintain assigned facilities and related equipment.
  • Lead campus-wide preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, repairs, adjustments, calibration, and equipment testing.
  • Update accurate records for all systems and work.
  • Review designs and provide recommendations and oversight for proposed facility modifications, additions, and expansions.
  • Act as a liaison with departmental teams within the institution.
  • Use relevant facilities management procedures and processes to ensure consistency and compliance.
  • Supervise cleanliness throughout the facilities and maintain and update accurate records.
  • Maintain a safety-focused approach and deliver customer service and satisfaction.
  • Ensure building automation system monitoring, operations, and maintenance comply with policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements.
  • Train and guide team members on complex activities and address escalations and deviations.
  • Perform other duties assigned to meet department and institutional goals and objectives.
  • Maintain regular and predictable attendance.
