Requirements
  • A high school diploma or equivalent, including successful completion of an approved curriculum in diagnostic sonography, is required.
  • ARDMS Registered Vascular Technologist certification is required.
  • Basic Life Support certification is required.
  • At least two years of pediatric ultrasound experience is required.
Responsibilities
  • Perform diagnostic sonographic and interventional procedures in the department or on the units under the general supervision of the Chief Imaging Technologist and with the assistance of a physician or a senior sonographer.
  • Select the appropriate equipment and protocol for each patient's examination while considering the patient's age, development, and requested study according to established guidelines.
  • Maneuver patients into optimal positions according to established guidelines.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of normal and abnormal anatomy by obtaining complete series of diagnostic-quality images within the agreed-upon timeframe and protocol.
  • Accurately obtain reproducible measurements required by protocol using established manual or computerized methods.
  • Provide the interpreting physician with completed studies and preliminary findings.
  • Adhere to new and revised aseptic technique procedures and protocols.
  • Provide ultrasound guidance for basic invasive procedures.
