- Directs and coordinates the conduct of formal administrative hearings, safety responsibility hearings and informal hearings pursuant to the Illinois Vehicle Code, primarily in the Chicago metropolitan area and the northern and central portions of Illinois.
- Directs and coordinates all activities within the Breath Alcohol Ignition Interlock Device division, including overseeing the installation and monitoring of ignition interlock devices installed in vehicles of individuals convicted of driving under the influence offenses.
- Leads the annual certification of Illinois vendors that provide ignition interlock services.
- Conducts inspections of Breath Alcohol Ignition Interlock Device sites and issues Monitoring Device Driving Permits for first-time driving under the influence offenders.
- Directs and participates in the formulation, implementation and execution of Department policies and rules, with an emphasis on the Hearings Division.
- Coordinates with the Office of General Counsel and representatives of the Illinois Attorney General's Office regarding administrative hearings appealed to the courts on Administrative Review.
- Establishes and maintains effective inter-divisional, inter-governmental, public and professional liaisons and legislative contacts.
- Interprets department programs, policies and objectives to governmental organizations, the public and professional groups and provides information and suggestions.
- Directs and evaluates the activities of division supervisors and hearing officers on an ongoing basis.
- Prepares assigned reports within designated timeframes and submits them to the Director.
- Experience overseeing administrative hearing divisions.
