Requirements
  • Law degree or postgraduate diploma in law (PGDL) with a relevant undergraduate degree from a reputable university
  • Completed or on track towards completing the Legal Practice Course (LPC) or Solicitors Qualification Examination (SQE)
  • No character and suitability barriers to becoming trainee solicitor
  • Work experience at a law firm, marketing agency, or tech company
  • Basic knowledge of EU consumer, competition and intellectual property laws
  • Track record of delivering in a position of trust
  • Ability to effectively identify goals, communicate, identify risks and proposed go-forward strategies with internal business clients
  • Solution oriented and highly organised
  • Team player who is able to work independently and across different time zones
  • Candidate will be self-motivated, results driven, resourceful and enthusiastic
  • Self-starter who takes ownership of work and demonstrates the ability to work independently and collaboratively with others
  • Speak effectively one-on-one and to small groups of internal and external parties
  • Maintain strict confidentiality
  • Attention to detail and strong analytical skills
  • Ability to manage and prioritise multiple projects

Responsibilities
  • Drafting, reviewing, negotiating, and finalising commercial documents, including, but not limited to marketing agreements, non-disclosure agreements, product sales agreements, distribution agreements, amendments, board minutes, powers of attorney and sales support programs
  • Identifying and advising internal clients on risks associated with each transaction and proposing practical/strategic risk mitigation strategies in connection with commercial transactions
  • Providing legal research on other matters as they arise, including intellectual property, consumer, product regulatory, privacy, antitrust and litigation
  • Working closely with attorneys and contracts managers within legal and compliance function, interfacing with Western Digital subject matter experts, as needed
  • Supporting aspects of the contracts management process and policies, including using and improving strategic playbooks, templates, and contract life cycle management processes
  • Working on special projects, as needed
  • Hybrid Working model. 2-3 days per week in Guildford (UK) office, remainder remote working
  • Potential for agreement of flexible working arrangements to facilitate any period of any remaining legal study
