Requirements
  • A minimum of 3 years of experience in land surveying with a proven track record of progressively responsible roles.
  • Experience in civil services is preferred.
  • Proficiency in using surveying instruments and software, including total stations, GPS, and levels.
  • Strong knowledge of surveying principles, techniques, and procedures.
  • Strong organizational and problem-solving abilities.
  • Effective communication and client relationship management skills.
  • A valid driver's license and willingness to travel to various job sites.
  • Ability to work outdoors in various weather and topographical conditions, stand for extended periods, lift or carry up to 50 pounds, traverse creeks and steep slopes, climb fences, walk up to 5 miles per day, drive up to 500 miles per day, and work extended schedules when project demands require it.
Responsibilities
  • Plan, organize, and lead the survey crew in field surveys, including control, boundary, topographic, construction layout, as-built, and related surveys.
  • Ensure accurate and precise data collection using total stations, GPS, levels, and data collectors.
  • Supervise the establishment of survey control points, benchmarks, and reference points.
  • Maintain and manage vehicles and surveying equipment, ensuring proper working condition and calibration.
  • Manage field supplies and equipment inventory.
  • Collect, analyze, and verify survey data to generate maps, plans, and reports.
  • Identify and resolve survey data discrepancies and errors.
  • Perform daily job safety analyses and vehicle safety inspections according to company policy.
  • Enforce company and client safety protocols and best practices during field operations.
  • Ensure adherence to local, state, and federal regulations and surveying standards.
  • Train, mentor, and guide survey crew members.
  • Assign tasks, manage work schedules, and supervise the performance of field personnel.
  • Monitor daily production, performance, and hours.
  • Coordinate with clients and project managers regarding project requirements, issues, and changes.
  • Maintain communication with clients and landowners during field surveys.
  • Maintain field notes, records, and project documentation.
  • Ensure daily uploads of survey data, photos, field notes, safety reports, and other project information.
  • Enter accurate crew time logs for hours worked, paid time off, and holidays.
  • Assist with survey reports and deliverables.
