Requirements
  • A bachelor's degree in business administration, finance, accounting, or economics, or equivalent education and experience.
  • Typically five to seven years of directly related, demonstrated successful experience in commercial credit administration.
  • Thorough knowledge and understanding of Commercial Real Estate and C&I lending processes.
  • Solid knowledge of loan analysis, structuring, and documentation across various business and collateral structures.
  • Strong credit and financial analysis skills.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing, with all lines of business.
  • Ability to supervise, direct, and mentor others in performing their assigned responsibilities.
  • Ability to collaborate cross-divisionally with production personnel.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a timely manner.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, and various database programs.
  • Ability to develop and maintain working knowledge of First Federal policies, procedures, and systems.
  • Valid Washington driver's license.
  • Ability to operate office machines and equipment, including personal computers, printers, copying machines, and telephones.
  • Ability to communicate clearly with customers, coworkers, and others in person and by telephone.
  • Ability to sit and stand for extended periods.
Responsibilities
  • Plan, organize, and manage the commercial credit function and staff activities to ensure independent review of the Bank's commercial loan portfolio and compliance with bank policies and applicable regulations.
  • Supervise staff activities, establish goals, assess performance, participate in hiring and discipline decisions, mentor staff, and ensure appropriate training and development opportunities.
  • Monitor the bank's loan portfolio continuously to mitigate loss exposure through timely credit review and grading.
  • Participate in identifying problem loans and recommend handling and resolution strategies.
  • Maintain the bank's system of credit analysis, underwriting, and quality control for all loans.
  • Ensure adequate credit and collateral documentation is maintained in compliance with policies and regulatory requirements.
  • Provide periodic reports of outstanding credit exceptions to the Chief Credit Officer.
  • Prepare loan portfolio analyses, including impairment analysis under ASC 310, credit concentration reports, appraisal aging schedules, and loan maturity reports.
  • Manage a team of underwriters preparing analyses of large loans, large aggregate lending to one borrower, complex loans, and problem loans.
  • Approve, decline, or counter-offer portfolio loan requests within applicable loan policy limits and participate in problem credit resolution.
  • Ensure compliance with policies and regulations, including the Bank Secrecy Act and Community Reinvestment Act.
  • Support bank-wide sales and service efforts to retain existing relationships and grow new relationships.
  • Support the institution's deposit, loan, and fee-income goals to ensure sustained profitable growth.
  • Perform related duties and responsibilities as required.
  • Maintain regular and predictable attendance.
