  • Master’s degree in Orthotics and Prosthetics.
  • Must be eligible for or have a valid orthotist/prosthetist license in the state of employment, where licensure is required.
  • Certification in Orthotics and Prosthetics from the American Board for Certification OR Certification in Orthotics and Prosthetics from the Board of Certification/Accreditation.
  • Must have completed a residency training program that is recognized and approved by the National Commission on Orthotic and Prosthetic Education (NCOPE).
  • Job requires willingness to relocate and/or work at various Hanger offices throughout the U.S
Responsibilities
  • Provide or supervise the provision of comprehensive prosthetic and orthotic care.
  • This includes patient assessment, formulation of a treatment plan, implementation of the treatment plan, follow-up and practice management.
  • Combine a unique blend of clinical and technical skills.
  • Prosthetist/Orthotists evaluate patients and custom design, fabricate and fit prostheses and orthoses.
  • Work with other members of the rehabilitation team, design with computers, and help change a patient's life.
  • Collaborate with physicians in the evaluation and analysis of a patient’s need for prosthetic or orthotic services; recommend treatment options to physicians when necessary.
  • Examine and evaluate patient's needs in relation to disease and functional loss.
  • Formulate design of prosthetic or orthopedic devices.
  • Perform fitting, including static and dynamic alignments.
  • Evaluate prosthesis or orthotic device on patient, adjust to assure fit, function, medical efficacy, and quality of work.
  • Instruct patient in use of prosthesis or orthotics.
  • Identify and reconcile issues/problems to ensure patient satisfaction with devices provided.
  • Provide follow-up with patients and physicians.
  • Provide detailed clinical notes to patient records.
  • Provide information to administrative staff to conduct reimbursement activities.
  • Provide in service training to physicians and allied health care professionals.
  • Select materials, make cast measurements, model modifications, and layouts, taking into account new techniques and materials.
  • Utilize effective materials management, quality and performance processes to maximize device quality and medical efficacy, maintaining proper balance with costs and operational/financial performance.
  • Meet with physicians, case managers and other referral sources to review services and capabilities; develop and enhance business relationships to identify and secure ongoing and future sources or referrals.
  • Responsible with manager to plan and implement strategies to meet and exceed revenue targets.
  • May mentor residents or newly certified Prosthetists or Orthotists.
  • Provide assistance to other clinical staff.
  • Adhere to all safety regulations; compliance with Medicare, HIPAA and, and other governmental regulations; compliance with bloodborne and Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) requirements.
  • Perform other duties or special projects as assigned.

Hanger acquires Liberating Technologies to advance prosthetic research and development

Hanger, Inc., a leading orthotic and prosthetic patient care provider, has acquired Liberating Technologies, Inc. (LTI), a research organisation founded in 2000 and previously owned by Coapt. LTI's research team has secured numerous government-funded grants since 2008 to develop next-generation technologies for the orthotic and prosthetic field. LTI will join Hanger Ventures and the Hanger Institute for Clinical Research and Education to drive innovation in clinical care. The team will continue current grant-funded initiatives, including advancing voice-recognition technology for prosthesis control and developing socket cooling systems for residual limb skin health. Hanger acquired Coapt, LTI's previous owner, in 2025.
