Job Overview:
As a Benefits Advisor II, you will be at the forefront of providing invaluable health, welfare, and retirement (HWR) benefit best practices and compliance guidance to small and medium-sized businesses across the United States. You will consult with customers to address their inquiries clearly and efficiently, offering personable and timely solutions to their benefits inquiries, and building trust while adhering to service-level expectations. Your benefits expertise and collaboration with colleagues will be instrumental in enhancing the customer experience and elevating our company’s goals.
This is a full-time, exempt role reporting to the Manager, Benefits Advisory Services. This role can be fully remote and available anywhere in the U.S., with little to no travel required – less than 10% of the time.
Duties & Responsibilities:
- Provide health, welfare, and retirement benefits best practice and compliance guidance to U.S.-based small-and-medium sized businesses - based on knowledge, research, and professional experience.
- Consult with customers over the phone and in writing to help them address their benefits inquiries, in a timely, clear, and easy-to-understand manner.
- Support client calls in accordance with scheduled daily phone time following an internal triage and transfer process on a broad range of benefits-related topics.
- Research best practices and compliance implications of benefits issues, ensuring quality and relevance of responses to customer inquiries.
- Adhere to service level expectations regarding response times and adapt to varying levels of volume, reprioritizing work as appropriate.
- Establish credibility and trust with customers.
- Collaborate and build trusting relationships with colleagues across Mitratech to constantly improve workflows, tools, and content in support of company goals and elevating the client experience.
- Serve as formal or informal mentor to new Coordinator hires.
- Proactively identify and engage in continuing education focusing on identified required baseline knowledge areas.
- Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements & Skills:
- Strong customer service skills: ability to translate complicated topics and regulations into real-world and actionable client communication that is easy to understand.
- Proven experience in an applied environment, such as:
- 2+ years of experience working in the employee benefits field, focusing on health, welfare, and retirement benefits in benefits administration and compliance for employer groups; or
- 2+ years of experience acting as an external advisor, such as Mineral or
- Some equivalent combination of the above.
- General understanding of rules and federal laws that apply to the field of health, welfare, and retirement benefits including, but not limited to ERISA, the Affordable Care Act, COBRA, midyear event change rules applicable to HIPAA and cafeteria plans, and benefit eligibility determination for active employees and those on leave.
- GBA certification required within twelve months of hire if not GBA certified upon hire.
- Ability to see the “big picture”, while working within the details.
- Ability to organize and efficiently manage multiple priorities with a keen sense of urgency.
- High level of discretion and ability to maintain client confidentiality.
- Excellent interpersonal communication (written and oral).
- Ability and willingness to become fluent in using a variety of productivity software applications including MS Office & SharePoint, Slack, and our proprietary case management system.
- Ability to independently troubleshoot basic technical and software issues with available resources.
- Strong Internet navigation and research skills.
- Preferred:
- Experience in a third-party Benefits service delivery environment (ASO, PEO, broker, consulting, etc.)
- Prior experience administering health and welfare benefits or preparing benefits notices and documentation.
- One of the following certifications: PHR, SHRM-CP, GBA or equivalent benefits certification
We will disclose intended pay ranges in our job ads for US-based opportunities– This role can be performed 100% remote anywhere in the US. Anticipated Pay Range: $62,640-$78,408 Annually USD
Total compensation includes US employee benefits, and annual bonus eligibility.
