Requirements
  • Applicants must be current law school students who will have completed their second year of law school before the internship commences.
  • Applicants must demonstrate strong legal research, writing, and analysis skills.
  • Applicants must demonstrate interest in and familiarity with civil rights, civil liberties, and social justice issues.
  • Applicants must have written and verbal communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively.
  • Applicants must be self-motivated and able to work with colleagues and partners within and outside the organization.
  • Applicants must submit a resume, cover letter, most recent law school transcript, two references, and a wholly authored legal memorandum writing sample demonstrating legal analysis and writing skills.
  • Candidates receiving a job offer must provide proof of being fully vaccinated against COVID-19 before commencing employment.
Responsibilities
  • Conduct complaint investigation, legal research, and memo writing for litigation and other legal advocacy.
  • Draft complaints, affidavits, discovery requests, pretrial motions, and appellate briefs.
  • Assist with trial preparation and preparation for oral arguments.
  • Work closely with members of the Legal department under the supervision of an assigned managing attorney.
  • Assist the Legislative Director in developing testimony for legislative hearings and other public policy materials.
