- Execution of existing biopharma programs to successfully meet all milestones and deliverables
- Identifying and prioritizing scientific areas where Ginkgo's cell engineering platform can provide a differentiated advantage to potential collaborators' pre-clinical R&D efforts to advance cell therapies, gene therapies, and biologics
- Launching and executing new internal cell programs to develop intellectual property to support expansion of Ginkgo's platform into new therapeutic areas with an eye to expanding Ginkgo's partnered biopharma portfolio
- Build and manage a world-class scientific team in mammalian cell engineering
- Partner with Ginkgo's leadership team to deliver on company objectives and key results
- In collaboration with the board and executive team, assembling a scientific advisory board
- Reporting to the board and executive team on biopharma portfolio progress against timelines and milestones
- Recognized scientific leader in biopharma pre-clinical research and development
- Demonstrated track record of building and managing successful, high-quality teams
- Deep connections to the heads of R&D at various biopharma and big pharma companies
- Ability to lead teams across therapeutic modalities and disease areas
- Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to partner effectively with the executive team and cross-functional leaders throughout the company and communicate thoughtfully to diverse stakeholders, including collaborators' executive teams and the board
- Experience in fast-growth companies a plus
- Prior experience within a startup or entrepreneurial environment preferred
- Demonstrated commitment, self-motivation, and drive, and enthusiasm about being a part of Ginkgo's mission
