Requirements
  • Must have transportation management experience.
  • Must have excellent customer service skills, strong business acumen, effective leadership ability, a thorough understanding of the company's products and services, a strong work ethic, a high level of organization, and computer literacy.
  • Must be able to take a physical agility test and lift up to 50 pounds.
Responsibilities
  • Provide leadership to a team of Drivers, also called Route Sales and Service Representatives, to ensure customer satisfaction and achieve depot and district operational goals.
  • Direct efforts to maximize new business accounts, increase penetration of existing accounts, and retain accounts.
  • Report to the General Manager, District Manager, or Branch Manager.
  • Manage a specific market area with six to twelve Route Sales and Service Representatives as direct reports.
  • Manage the daily activities of Route Sales and Service Representatives, including route check-in, route coverage, and route restructuring.
  • Assist in developing sales strategies and formulating plans and policies concerning market area definition, product lines, merchandise quality, advertising, and pricing activities.
  • Work toward plant goals including forecasted volume, account retention, and contract management.
  • Administer recruitment and training for Route Sales and Service Representatives, including orientation, product familiarity, company policies and procedures, goals and objectives.
  • Provide continuing education and training on account retention, planning, sales techniques, and personal appearance.
  • Pursue market potential, follow up with selected customers, and close sales in coordination with the General Manager, Sales Representatives, and Route Sales and Service Representatives.
