Requirements
  • Doctoral degree in Podiatric Medicine (DPM) from an accredited school of podiatric medicine is required.
  • ABFAS Board certification or ABFAS Board qualification with the ability to obtain certification within the next 7 years.
  • 3-5 years of post-residency podiatric surgical experience is required.
  • Strong commitment to education, service, and research.

Responsibilities
  • Develop, instruct, and employ multiple teaching modalities in the delivery of the Podiatric curriculum in both classroom and clinical settings, aligning with the Council on Podiatric Medical Education accreditation standards and the American Association of Colleges of Podiatric Medicine Curriculum Guide, to meet student learning objectives.
  • Provide summative and formative assessment of podiatric medical student performance. Administer, proctor, and grade assessments utilizing ExamSoft, reporting grades in the Canvas Learning Management System.
  • Serve as an academic advisor and mentor to students within the DPM program, providing individualized support and feedback.
  • Serve on established Barry University and School-specific committees and attend professional meetings related to job function. Contribute to the development and maintenance of policies and procedures that are consistent with the overall Mission Statement of the University and the School of Podiatric Medicine, and that comply with accreditation standards and other regulatory agencies. Participate in strategic planning and accreditation activities, as needed.
  • Participate in scholarly activity processes directly or in a supportive role, which may include but is not limited to pre-clinical science research, clinical research, medical education scholarly activity, and/or scholarly activity regarding process, policy, and procedure improvement/enhancement. The extent of scholarly activity will be determined on an individual basis, according to the faculty workload model. Scholarly activity should be conducted in accordance with the rules, regulations, policies, and procedures of the Department of Grants and Sponsored Programs, and Federal and State statutes.
  • Diagnose and treat a variety of foot and ankle conditions, providing comprehensive podiatric care to patients of all ages at the designated Barry University Foot and Ankle Institute.
  • Maintain/obtain the necessary active and unrestricted podiatric medical license, board qualification/certification by ABFAS or ABPM, and controlled substance licenses necessary for supporting and participating in clinical care related to the educational activities of the School and to the Barry University Foot and Ankle Institute.
  • Participate in teaching activities within the clinic, providing guidance to medical students and/or Residents. Integrate educational objectives into clinical practice, ensuring alignment with accreditation standards and curricular guidelines.
  • Other work-related duties as assigned by the Dean.
