Requirements
- Some high school education with the ability to read and write.
- No prior experience is required.
Responsibilities
- Ensure food for service is attractive, fresh, and at a safe temperature.
- Prepare ordered diets for patients and mobile meals, assisting those in need with menu choices.
- Perform cafeteria duties including cashiering, serving, bussing tables, cleaning, restocking items, pricing, and labeling items.
- Stock café coolers, room-service coolers, unit kitchenettes, and other assigned areas.
- Assist with food and supply ordering, receiving, and inventory as needed.
- Help with daily food preparation as needed.
- Follow scheduled timelines and step-by-step instructions for each job position.
- Perform preparation, delivery, and service for catered functions and special events.
- Wash dishes and clean the kitchen and café according to the cleaning schedule.
- Maintain equipment in a safe and sanitary manner.
- Communicate with other departments regarding patient diets.
- Collect garbage and recyclables and take them to the respective areas.
- Answer patient room-service calls, prepare and distribute patient trays, and prepare patient snacks.
- Interview patients about their likes and dislikes and offer choices within dietary restrictions.
- Follow food safety regulations for receiving, storing, preparing, and distributing food items.
- Label all food items according to regulations and department guidelines.
- Develop individual goals annually in coordination with department goals and follow through on both.
Desired Qualifications
- High school diploma.
- Ability to operate a cash register and make change.
- Six to twelve months of experience in a similar position.
- ServSafe or equivalent food-safety training certification obtained within the past five years.
