Requirements
  • Current, unencumbered multistate Registered Nurse license through the enhanced Nurse Licensure Compact, or a current unencumbered Registered Nurse license issued by the state where services will be provided with required multistate licensure obtained within three months of hire.
  • If the primary state of residence is not part of the enhanced Nurse Licensure Compact, obtain Registered Nurse licenses in Maryland, Pennsylvania, Ohio, and West Virginia within three months of hire.
  • Obtain Basic Life Support certification upon hire.
  • Complete a state criminal background check and a federal background check if applicable for regulated areas.
  • Have 18 months of clinical experience working as a Registered Nurse.
  • Demonstrate knowledge and skills necessary to provide age-specific patient care and interpret patient data.
  • Work closely with others, work protracted or irregular hours, and work around biohazards, infectious diseases, deceased persons, water, and electrical hazards associated with patient-care equipment.
  • Travel is required for this position.
Responsibilities
  • Deliver nursing care through the nursing process with shift accountability for patient outcomes.
  • Provide direct patient care within the designated shift and scope of practice.
  • Implement appropriate clinical decisions and use expert peers or management when applicable.
  • Initiate actions to correct, reduce, or prevent risks to patient health status.
  • Provide coordinated and comprehensive patient care, including assessment, expected outcomes, nursing interventions, and evaluation within an interdisciplinary team.
  • Negotiate patient-care tasks with patients and families within safe-practice guidelines, delegate tasks to assigned personnel, and follow up on completion and patient response.
  • Use independent nursing judgment and accept accountability for care provided by self and delegated healthcare providers.
  • Apply standards of care, standards of practice, scientific principles, research findings, and established patient-care support systems.
  • Evaluate patient responses to performed and delegated tasks, including Patient Profile Assessment for safe patient handling and mobility.
  • Determine and revise priorities for direct and indirect patient-care activities based on patient acuity and available resources, and update the daily care plan with safe-patient-handling algorithms.
  • Assume responsibility for the development of others.
  • Foster the integration of staff and students into the healthcare team and facilitate incorporation of the unit's mission, values, and vision.
  • Promote trusting relationships and open, honest communication at the unit level.
  • Exchange information relevant to specific patient assignments and interact with healthcare-team members to meet patient-care needs.
  • Participate in performance-improvement activities as appropriate.
  • Lift, move, stoop, reach, stand, walk, and carry materials and equipment weighing 40 or more pounds while using indicated patient-handling equipment and aids.
Desired Qualifications
  • Hold a Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing or complete the Bachelor of Science in Nursing within five years of hire.
