Job Description Summary:
The Fixed Assets Technician assist in tagging assets and Workday Fixed Assets data for entry.
Job Description:
Responsibilities include:
- Maintain accurate and thorough audit trail of back-up files, logs, receiving reports, purchase orders, vendor payments and departmental change reports.
- Prepare data to be updated into Workday Fixed Assets. Run and evaluate reports for both campuses monthly.
- Review purchase orders through BuyWM to determine which items meet capitalization criteria.
- Tag W&M’s equipment and occasionally VIMS' equipment. Schedule appointments with departments for tagging/reviewing equipment.
- Gather all pertinent information (e.g., make, model, room, serial numbers, location of item) and enters data into Workday Fixed Assets.
- Assist with the university's Fixed Asset inventories (annual and random). Audit changes as noted by the departments.
- Research problems and correct Workday Fixed Assets when necessary.

Competencies:
- Basic knowledge of inventories and fixed assets.
- Excellent data entry skills and attention to detail with the demonstrated ability to perform basic mathematical calculations.
- Basic problem solving skills, with the ability to solve problems and work through solutions independently.
- Strong computer skills; with working knowledge of office Microsoft Office (particularly Word, Excel and outlook), and the ability to learn new systems or other databases quickly.
- Demonstrated oral and written communication skills with the ability to effectively communicate with a diverse campus community and collaborate effectively with internal colleagues.
- Effective organizational skills with the ability to m manage multiple and competing priorities concurrently.
Experience:
- Strong data experience.
- Demonstrated Experience using MS Word & Excel.
- Experience tracking and maintaining records.
Annual Salary: $37,000-$42,000 commensurate with experience.
