ABOUT THE OPPORTUNITY
The Data & Analytics team at DriveWealth creates data products that provide access to relevant data and insights to help customers succeed. We focus on creating, maintaining, and monitoring data pipelines including ingestion and broader data services/products/processes used both by internal partners and external customers.
Seen as both a Technical Lead and Resident Data Expert, our Principal Data Engineer will lead the establishment and build-out of the data engineering function, partnering with cross-functional teams, stakeholders, and organizational leaders.

How does someone in this role ensure success?
Through leveraging Databricks, this strategic role is built upon partnering closely with both technical and non-technical stakeholders (ex: analytics engineers, product managers, and functional leaders). This role will be driven (daily) to interpret and clarify requirements, architect and build efficient data processing services, and ideate end-to-end data products, all with the end goal to ensure customers achieve their fundamental goals.
WHAT YOU’D WORK ON WITH THE TEAM
- Provide thought leadership, best practices on architecture and tooling, plus lead the establishment of standards for designing and implementing scalable data solutions
- Lead conversations with data product managers and business partners to ensure requirements translate into data engineering solutions
- Proactively anticipating challenges to provide viable suggestions (you are seen as the Subject Matter Expert and Technical Lead)
- Build and maintain data processes including replication in batch and events, ensuring consistent accurate output is delivered quickly through efficient coding with testing and verification
- Work to establish an open and scalable data culture through documentation, constructive code reviews, and clear explanations of priorities and pain points
- Provide mentorship and guidance to data engineers
- Work with the broader data & analytics team to ideate, build and maintain “self-service” data products that enable data and analytics usage (tables, reports, dashboards, and python notebooks), stepping in to help deliver and provide guidance wherever necessary and possible
WHAT YOU BRING (REQUIRED)
- 10+ years of strategic experience solving data & ETL problems directly with business partners
- Fluent in Databricks
- Experience working within a larger data team: CI/CD process leveraging GitHub and AGILE development where possible
WHAT WE NEED (PREFERRED)
- Fluent in Python, SQL, PySpark, Spark SQL, AWS
- Working knowledge of DBT, Airflow, or other orchestration and SQL code management tools
- BS in Computer Science or equivalent program
- Bonus points...Familiarity with Snowflake, FinTech, or stock market experience
Compensation
Compensation package offerings are based on candidate experience and technical qualifications, as it relates to the role. These are identified and determined throughout your interviewing experience.

$195,000—$240,000 USD
