The Medical University of South Carolina (MUSC) Department of Surgery in Charleston, South Carolina, is actively seeking a dynamic and dedicated board-certified plastic surgeon to join our faculty in the Division of Plastic to augment and develop our breast reconstruction program, participate in the education of residents and fellows, and contribute to the future of our division.
About Us:
The Division of Plastic, Reconstructive & Hand Surgery at MUSC boasts fully accredited programs for both integrated residency and independent fellowship training, with a microsurgery fellowship planned for 2025. Our institution is committed to excellence in patient care, education, and research. With over 800 beds across the Main University Hospital and Ashley River Tower, the Shawn Jenkins Children’s Hospital (250 beds) and Pediatric and Adult Burn facilities, MUSC is at the forefront of healthcare in the Low Country of South Carolina, serving a diverse population of over 800,000.
Position Overview:
We seek a motivated individual to join our team as the Section Chief of Breast Reconstruction. The successful candidate will be expected to contribute to our academic mission through clinical care, education, and scholarly activities. Qualifications:
Board certification in Plastic Surgery
Associate or Professor level faculty preferred, however an Assistant Professor with significant career history will be considered as well.
Fellowship training in microsurgery preferred, but not required
Demonstrated interest in research, graduate, and undergraduate education
Commitment to excellence in patient care and professional development
Responsibilities:
Provide exceptional clinical care in Plastic and Breast Reconstruction Surgery
Actively participate in the education and training of medical students, residents, and fellows
Engage in scholarly activities, including research, publications, and presentations
Contribute to the academic and clinical growth of the department and institution
