Requirements
  • A recognised degree relevant to the course being taught plus: a formal qualification in the delivery of education OR minimum two years’ relevant teaching experience, including breadth of experience in delivering to students from non-English speaking backgrounds.
  • Effective interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Demonstrated skills and experience in delivering and assessing both in face-to-face and online classes (using a Learning Management System such as Canvas and Microsoft Teams).
  • Substantial discipline knowledge as it relates to this position.
  • Capacity to identify learning problems in students, propose and implement effective strategies.
  • Demonstrated ability to contribute effectively as a constructive and proactive member of a team.
  • Demonstrated skills in the use of relevant information and communication technologies.
  • Current Working with Children Clearance or VIT registration.
Responsibilities
  • Deliver engaging, student-centred lessons within Art, Design and Architecture courses.
  • Plan, prepare and assess learning materials in line with curriculum requirements
  • Monitor student progress, provide timely feedback and maintain accurate academic records
  • Identify students at risk and implement strategies to support their success
  • Contribute to curriculum development and continuous improvement initiatives
  • Collaborate with colleagues and Student Services to enhance the student experience
  • Participate in meetings, moderation, professional development and orientation activities
  • Undertake associated administrative tasks and maintain compliance with relevant frameworks (e.g. ESOS)
Desired Qualifications
  • Experience teaching other tertiary or secondary school subjects.
  • Experience teaching international students in a tertiary or secondary school setting
  • Not required for non-English units
  • Proven collegiality and the ability to share ideas
  • Knowledge of current pedagogical practices
