Position Summary:
The VP OSE is a seasoned business leader with deep expertise in the discipline of human resources. This leader is someone who can engage joyfully and positively in building a sense of teamwork within their team and the rest of the HR function. They should have a strong ability and desire to develop future leaders within their space. He/she is a member of the HR Leadership Team (HRLT) and will lead a global team of HR Business Partners, Organizational Development, Change Management, and the Employee Relations function.
As a member of the HRLT, this leadership role will partner closely with the business leaders and the HRLT to ensure that our talent initiatives and solutions align with our global business strategies and are designed to support our future scale and success. This new role will focus on:
- Helping shape the HR strategy and policy for the organization
- Partnering closely with Global Talent Management (GTM) team to develop, direct, and execute priorities for our talent management initiatives, ensuring we are focused on the right priorities and solutions to drive the company’s overall organizational effectiveness
- Influencing and leading the multi-year transformation of the global HR function
- Acting as key advisor to our Intuitive Senior Leadership Team
- Evolving our employee relations (ER) function to ensure a fair and supportive workplace
The overall purpose of the role is to ensure that our talent initiatives/ solutions align with our global business strategies and are designed to support our future scale and success. The role will be a key advisor to our senior leadership team across Intuitive and will take on as the lead HRBP for a key function to enable them to experience our processes/ policies firsthand – thereby ensuring we are focused on the right priorities and solutions for our overall org excellence across the company.
To accomplish this, the VP OSE engages and partners closely with their immediate HR business team, and HR colleagues across People Solutions, HR Business Operations, and the HR COEs. This leader will partner very closely with the Global Talent Management team ensuring that we are co-creating key talent practices with the business leaders that are pragmatic, scalable, and aligned to our culture. The VP OSE will be an expert practitioner and partner with the business leaders in partnership with the HRBPs – working with executives on critical growth and risk mitigation activities such as, but not limited to, succession management, organization design, new business ventures, and high risk/profile ER issues.
Job Duties
- Partner with the CHRO to create a three-year talent strategy that aligns with our business growth and culture.
- Voice of the customer: Partners with the global HRBPs and HRLT to gather and understand the key business needs, identify key gaps, and prioritize appropriate talent solutions to drive desired outcomes.
- Lead the team responsible for the development, strategy, and execution for our Employee Relations function.
- This leader will be a key partner with Legal, IT, and Finance as we craft the desired employee experience journey for our employees.
- Help drive/facilitate the ‘rhythm of the talent initiatives’ across the business (i.e. performance & comp planning, goal setting, employee engagement survey, and action planning).
- Serves as an active participant of HRLT for the governance of the enterprise.
- Thought leadership: Fosters a trusted partnership; a thought partner with the business leaders and the broader HRLT.
- Org Design and Capabilities: Helps drive and co-develop best practices on organizational design and organizational development initiatives – with the HRBPs being a key customer liaison driving the execution of talent management programs based on the business needs.
- Executive Development: Identify and develop high-potential leaders within the organization through coaching, mentoring, and leadership development programs.
Qualifications
Required Skills and Experience
To adequately perform the responsibilities of this position the individual would ideally have the following:
- Minimum Education: Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience
- Minimum 15 years in HR leadership positions
- At least 10+ years as an HR business partner to executive leaders (VP+)
- At least 10+ years leading global HR business partner teams

- Exceptional business acumen
- Proven track record of being a human capital strategist
- Experience as an org design architect
- Relationship builder and natural collaborator; adept at working within a matrix org
- Ability to problem solve and provide critical thinking as a thought partner to the executive leadership of the business
- Displays resiliency, exerts influence when needed, challenges the status quo
- Strong functional HR knowledge; experience working in multiple areas of the function
- Excellent exec consulting and coaching skills – c-suite level
- Ability to lead large-scale change initiatives
- Uses data and experiences to spot problems/trends and formulate action plans
