Requirements
  • Possess, at a minimum, a high school diploma or General Educational Development credential.
  • Type at least 45 words per minute and use dictation equipment.
  • Be knowledgeable of medical terminology.
  • Be knowledgeable in computers and data retrieval, input, and output functions.
  • Read, write, speak, and understand English, and read technical procedures.
  • Apply fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
  • Make independent decisions when circumstances warrant such action.
  • Deal tactfully with personnel, residents, visitors, and the general public.
  • Follow written and oral instructions.
  • Move intermittently throughout the workday and speak and write English understandably.
  • Meet the facility's general health requirements, including a medical and physical examination.
  • Push, pull, move, and/or lift at least 25 pounds to a minimum height of 5 feet and carry or move that weight at least 50 feet.
  • Be able to assist in evacuating residents during emergency situations.
  • Work in office areas and throughout the facility, including weekends, holidays, other shifts, and emergency call-back situations as necessary.
  • Attend mandatory facility in-service training and approved workshops or seminars.
Responsibilities
  • Receive and follow work schedules, supervisor instructions, and established policies and procedures.
  • Assist in organizing, planning, and directing the medical records department.
  • Keep employee and resident files complete and compliant.
  • Maintain meeting minutes and file them as necessary.
  • Develop and maintain working rapport with inter-department and facility personnel to support proper maintenance of medical records.
  • Record and file incidents and accidents according to established procedures.
  • Retrieve resident records manually or electronically and deliver them as necessary.
  • File nurses' notes, resident assessments, progress notes, laboratory reports, x-ray results, correspondence, and other information into resident charts.
  • Collect, assemble, check, and file resident charts.
  • Return incomplete records and charts to the appropriate departments or personnel for correction.
  • Assist in developing procedures to ensure resident records are completed, assembled, coded, signed, and indexed before filing.
  • Ensure resident charts and records do not leave the medical records room except as authorized.
  • Maintain records of authorized information released from charts, including the information type, recipient, date, and department.
  • Abstract information from records for insurance companies, Medicare, Medicaid, the Department of Veterans Affairs, and other authorized purposes in accordance with privacy rules.
  • Index medical records as directed by the medical records or health information consultant.
  • Maintain registries, including admission and discharge registers.
  • Transcribe and type physician reports as necessary.
  • Collect charts, assemble them in proper order, and inspect them for completion.
  • Pick up and deliver resident medical records from wards, nurses' stations, and other designated areas.
  • Batch resident information into the computer and retrieve resident demographic information as appropriate or instructed.
  • Answer telephone inquiries concerning medical records functions and prepare written correspondence as necessary.
  • Retrieve medical records for authorized personnel, including physicians, nurses, and government agencies and personnel.
  • Ensure medical records removed from the department are signed out and signed in upon return.
  • File active and inactive records according to established policies.
  • Protect assigned user ID codes, passwords, and residents' protected health information, and report suspected or known violations.
  • Report unauthorized attempts to access the facility's information system.
  • Perform assigned duties with the administrative authority, responsibility, and accountability delegated for the position.
  • Perform secretarial duties for facility committees.
  • Collect and compile records for committee review and prepare reports for staff and other committees.
  • Report known or suspected fraud to the Administrator, including false billings, cost reports, and kickbacks.
  • Ensure unattended departmental computer workstations are logged off or protected by an automatic screen saver in accordance with facility policy.
  • Report unsafe or hazardous conditions and defective equipment to the supervisor.
  • Report equipment malfunctions or breakdowns.
  • Replenish supplies in work areas as necessary.
  • Keep work and assignment areas clean and store records and files properly.
  • Attend and participate in required facility training programs, including Occupational Safety and Health Administration, tuberculosis, Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act, and abuse prevention training.
  • Attend and participate in approved workshops and seminars.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Desired Qualifications
  • A working knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy and physiology, legal aspects of health information, coding, and indexing is preferred but not required.
  • Experience with medical record and health information system procedures is desirable, although on-the-job training is provided.

PACS Group beats Q1 estimates with $0.50 EPS and $1.42B revenue despite 12.5% year-to-date stock decline

PACS Group acquires Alaska care facility, plans 150-bed skilled nursing centre by 2028

PACS Group has acquired Ridgeway Senior Living, a post-acute care facility in Anchorage, Alaska, marking its fourth property in the state. The company has also purchased adjacent land to construct a 150-bed skilled nursing facility, expected to be completed by 2028. PACS Group appoints Carey Hendrickson as chief financial officer

PACS Group has appointed Carey P. Hendrickson as chief financial officer, effective 27 April 2026. Hendrickson brings nearly four decades of financial leadership across healthcare, senior living and media sectors. Most recently, Hendrickson served as CFO of U.S. Physical Therapy, overseeing 779 outpatient clinics across 44 states. He previously held CFO roles at Capital Senior Living Corporation, managing 128 communities across 23 states, and Belo Corp. He succeeds Mark Hancock, PACS's co-founder and executive vice chairman, who will retire by 30 June 2026 whilst remaining on the board as vice chairman. PACS Group co-founder and CFO Mark Hancock to retire after growing company from 2 facilities to $5.29B revenue

PACS Group has announced that co-founder and chief financial officer Mark Hancock will retire on 30 June 2026. He will continue serving on the company's board of directors as vice chairman. Hancock co-founded PACS in 2013 with Jason Murray, starting with two post-acute care facilities in San Diego. Under his leadership, the company expanded to 323 facilities across 17 states, serving over 31,700 patients daily and generating $5.29 billion in revenue in 2025, representing 29.3% year-on-year growth. Hancock guided PACS through its successful initial public offering on the New York Stock Exchange in April 2024 and served as interim CFO from September 2025. He will be succeeded by Carey P. PACS Group appoints Optum CEO Dr Patrick Conway, former CMS deputy administrator, to board

PACS Group, a leading post-acute healthcare platform, has appointed Dr Patrick Conway to its board of directors. Dr Conway currently serves as CEO of Optum, UnitedHealth Group's health services division with revenues exceeding $200 billion. From 2011 to 2017, Dr Conway served as deputy administrator for innovation and quality at the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services, where he also held roles as director of the Center for Medicare and Medicaid Innovation and chief medical officer.
