Requirements
- Minimum of two (2) years of recent experience in Post-Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU) in an acute care setting.
- Current registered nurse license in Washington state.
- Moderate sedation experience is required or moderate sedation certification is required within three months of hire.
- Current Emergency Room experience will be considered if a training position is posted.
- Must maintain active Basic Life Support, Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support, and Pediatric Advanced Life Support certifications.
Responsibilities
- Applies the nursing process to individuals and families of all ages experiencing alterations in health status related to sedation/anesthetic interventions.
- Covers preadmission assessment/process, Post Anesthesia Care Unit (Phase 1), Phase 2 recovery and discharge.
- Provides postoperative follow-up including the management of patients undergoing moderate sedation and assisting in procedures as required.
- Requires excellent critical thinking, communication, and Perianesthesia specific skills and practices consistent with ASPAN and AORN standards.
Desired Qualifications
- BSN degree strongly preferred
- CPAN or CAPA certification strongly preferred
- Additional compensation available for BSN and CPAN/CAPA
