Requirements
  • Must possess a valid current or temporary Alaska Registered Nurse license.
  • Requires the knowledge and skills normally demonstrated by an Associate's degree in nursing.
  • BLS certification is required.
  • May require ACLS, PALS, or additional certification and/or continuing education based on area of practice.
  • Requires creative thinking, prioritizing, and flexible problem-solving skills.
  • Requires the ability to communicate clearly in both verbal and written forms.
Responsibilities
  • Assess patients' physical, psychological, social, spiritual, educational, developmental, cultural, and discharge planning needs; review patient history, physical examinations, diagnostic and laboratory data, and report abnormal results to physicians and appropriate caregivers.
  • Formulate, initiate, review, and revise individualized plans of care, including discharge plans, in collaboration with patients, families, and the multidisciplinary health care team.
  • Implement plans of care through direct patient care, coordination, delegation, and supervision of health care team activities in accordance with physician orders, nursing plans, policies, standards, and regulatory requirements.
  • Evaluate patient and family responses to care and teaching, assess progress toward goals and expected outcomes, and revise plans of care as needed.
  • Document assessment, planning, implementation, evaluation, nursing interventions, patient responses, and physician orders accurately and on time in patient records.
  • Provide evidence-based care and participate in research activities within clinical practice when applicable.
  • Participate in unit or facility shared leadership.
  • Educate and orient facility personnel, patients, students, families, and visitors; act as a preceptor or mentor when appropriate.
  • Contribute to excellent patient outcomes and participate in improvement of national nursing quality indicators and outcomes, including through professional organizations.
  • Supervise staff and department workflow in some roles.
  • Perform functions according to established policies, procedures, regulatory and accreditation requirements, and professional standards.
  • Provide customers with an excellent service experience by consistently demonstrating organizational core and leader behaviors.
Desired Qualifications
  • A Bachelor's degree in nursing is preferred.
  • Professional certification is preferred.
  • Experience working in an acute care setting within the past 12 months as a Registered Nurse in the specialty area is preferred.
  • Additional related education and/or experience is preferred.
