Requirements
- A master's degree in psychology, counseling, sociology, social work, or another human services field meeting the requirements for an LMSW, LPC-Associate, or LMFT-A under the supervision of a Texas Licensed Professional of Healing Arts supervisor.
- Current Texas professional licensure is required.
- A background and criminal history free from disqualifying offenses under the Texas Administrative Code and Health and Human Services Commission requirements must be maintained.
- A valid driver's license and automobile insurance are required.
- Applicants with an out-of-state driver's license must obtain a Texas driver's license within 30 days.
- Successful completion of all position-specific training within 30 days of employment is required.
- Knowledge of family systemic approaches and interventions is required.
- Experience providing therapy to children and adults using cognitive behavioral techniques is required.
- Knowledge of couples therapy using behavioral-based approaches is required.
- Knowledge of behavioral therapy targeting school behavior and academic performance is required.
- Ability to implement interventions across the youth's natural ecology, including family, peer, school, and neighborhood systems, is required.
- Ability to collaborate and partner with community agencies is required.
- Knowledge of community and government service delivery systems, case management systems, guidelines, regulations, policies, interviewing techniques, mental illness, emotional components of physical illness, rehabilitation methods, disability-related individual needs, and community welfare resources is required.
- Skill in interviewing and conducting individual and family needs assessments is required.
- Ability to convey instructions and explanations, negotiate available services, and train others is required.
- Ability to work in a team environment is required.
- Ability to maintain regular and reliable in-person attendance is required.
- Understanding and practice of Trauma-Informed Care principles is required.
- Willingness to live within one hour of the service territory, provide regular in-home therapy, maintain an evening and weekend schedule as needed, and travel throughout the service territory are required.
Responsibilities
- Conduct Multisystemic Therapy assessments by reviewing referrals, identifying and engaging key participants, identifying systemic strengths and weaknesses, and analyzing problem behaviors within their ecological context.
- Engage primary caregivers and other key participants in active, change-oriented treatment and overcome barriers to engagement.
- Implement problem conceptualization, treatment planning, intervention implementation, outcomes review, and strategy revision using the MST Analytic Process.
- Maintain concise treatment documentation that supports peer and supervisory review and demonstrates compliance with the nine MST Principles and MST Analytic Process.
- Engage and collaborate with relevant systems and key participants to maintain alignment throughout MST treatment.
- Provide direct clinical treatment using methods compatible with MST principles and practices.
- Participate in MST training, supervision, consultation, and therapist development activities.
- Conduct at least two face-to-face contacts per week with clients and families in homes, schools, and other community settings.
- Provide therapeutic services using Multisystemic Therapy.
- Conduct face-to-face or video contact with a client's Legally Authorized Representative when required and applicable.
- Develop individual treatment plans and assess or reassess client support systems, community resources, schools, and facilities according to MST guidelines.
- Submit documentation for rendered services to the Center within two business days.
- Collaborate on client discharges with clients, families, the interdisciplinary treatment team, and community resources.
- Comply with grant and Authority guidelines and regulations for services rendered.
- Record, report, and evaluate client progress in the Authority's electronic health record progress notes.
- Complete three hours of professional development per calendar year related to MST or work with adolescents and families.
- Participate in the Center's Zero Suicide Initiative.
- Support individuals experiencing crises by connecting them with appropriate Center programs and remaining with them when safe until crisis or emergency personnel arrive.
- Participate in post-crisis debriefings and follow applicable Health and Human Services Commission guidelines and Center policies.
Desired Qualifications
- One year of counseling experience is preferred.
- Previous experience providing in-home or community-based therapy services is desirable.
