Responsibilities
  • Gain hands-on experience in the key responsibilities and functions of a Specialty Assistant Store Manager.
  • Complete a comprehensive training program involving hands-on experience, mentorship, and leadership development.
  • Learn to perform Manager on Duty responsibilities and oversee merchandising departments including Garden, Hardware, Lumber, Building Materials, Plumbing, and Electrical.
  • Collaborate with the Store Manager, Assistant Store Managers, and merchandising field teams to develop and implement strategies that improve sales and profitability.
  • Create actionable game plans for departmental success and ensure smooth department operations.
  • Supervise associates in selling efforts and lead the GET culture by setting the example.
  • Drive customer service and associate engagement throughout the store and resolve customer concerns promptly.
  • Perform opening, closing, Manager on Duty, and other whole-store responsibilities.
  • Adhere to company policies and procedures and hold associates accountable for following them.
  • Follow safety and hazardous-material procedures and Safety Matters guidelines.
  • Plan merchandise placement and signing with key partners and support stock integrity through inventory management.
  • Learn to maintain and operate store equipment and systems and manage daily financial operations.
  • Participate in structured training covering retail store operations, customer service, sales and profitability, and company policies and procedures.
  • Learn and demonstrate tactics for staffing and scheduling, resolving stock deficiencies, supervising associates in selling behaviors, resolving customer issues, and supporting installed sales, special orders, and product sales.
  • Learn and demonstrate the performance-management process, including reviewing associate performance and executing the associate disciplinary process when necessary.
  • Complete all assigned training modules and assessments.

The Trump administration is refunding approximately $166 billion in tariff revenue after the Supreme Court struck down its sweeping tariff policy, having returned $100 billion so far. Despite studies showing consumers bore the brunt of initial tariff costs through higher prices, most companies are reinvesting the refunds rather than passing savings to shoppers. Retail executives indicated in earnings calls they plan to put the money back into their businesses. Consumers have filed class-action lawsuits against companies receiving refunds, but none have concluded. Americans have limited recourse to recover funds if companies don't voluntarily lower prices.

Home Depot's Temco Logistics lays off 223 workers across three US states

Home Express Delivery Service, operating as Temco Logistics, is laying off 71 workers in Dallas as it closes its flatbed delivery centre in the Mountain Creek neighbourhood. The facility at 9222 W. Jefferson Blvd. will shut down, with affected employees being separated from employment beginning 26 September. Temco Logistics, a delivery and logistics company providing last-mile and white-glove delivery services for appliances and furniture, was acquired by The Home Depot in 2023. The company has filed similar notices in Florida and Georgia, where it is also closing flatbed delivery centres, resulting in a total of 223 job losses across three states.

Morgan Stanley sees $420 upside in Home Depot amid housing market freeze

Morgan Stanley has maintained its overweight rating and $420 price target on Home Depot following the company's first-quarter fiscal 2026 results, calling it "a turnkey stock without the turn".
