Responsibilities
  • The Co-op Coordinator will prepare students for the co-op search and work experience by teaching the co-op preparation curriculum and through individual career advising meetings. Preparation includes teaching resume writing, interviewing skills, professional behavior and communication skills, workplace ethics, and other relevant learning objectives.
  • The Co-op Coordinator will be available to advise students during their co-op work experiences and will provide an opportunity for students to reflect on their co-op experiences.
  • The Co-op Coordinator will collaborate with college faculty, administration and other co-op coordinators, as appropriate, to help students integrate their co-op and academic experiences.
  • The Co-op Coordinator will work with hiring managers and human resources contacts to retain ongoing co-op partnerships and develop new ones.
  • The Co-op Coordinator will promote opportunities to students, maintain a current understanding of the industry/field, employers, and positions, and meet with faculty, staff, alumni, and other parties to ensure a strong connection between higher education and industry, government, and non-profits.
  • The Co-op Coordinator will perform co-op, departmental, college, and university service as agreed upon by the Co-op Coordinator and the Director of CSSH Cooperative Education.
  • Further, the Co-op Coordinator will be encouraged to engage in service opportunities outside the university to enhance the reputation of the co-op program and the university.
