Requirements
  • Must be enrolled in a four-year degree program as a Sophomore, Junior or Senior with an institution that has an active Affiliation agreement with Pima County Health Department.
  • Majoring in Public Health, Health Policy, Epidemiology, or related fields.
  • Commit to intern a minimum of 400 hours between the dates of 05/25/2026 - 07/31/2026.
  • Qualifying education and experience must be clearly documented in the Education and Work Experience sections of the application. Do not substitute a resume for your application or write 'see resume' on your application.
  • Valid driver license is required at time of application. AZ driver license is required at time of appointment.
  • Successful applicant will be subject to a 39-month Department of Transportation Motor Vehicle Record review to determine applicant’s suitability to operate county vehicles.
  • Pre-employment background checks will be conducted including verification of work history, education, and criminal conviction history.
  • A prior criminal conviction will not automatically disqualify a candidate from employment with the County.
Responsibilities
  • Assist with the operation, evaluation, and planning of heat relief efforts before, during and after the heat season in Tucson, AZ.
  • Work with community partners, gathering data on cooling center effectiveness, and supporting outreach efforts.
  • Help prepare for the next heat season by improving training materials, strengthening partnerships, and identifying resource needs.
Desired Qualifications
  • Experience with data collection and analysis.
  • Experience using Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Experience in community service.
