  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in a Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Information Systems, or relevant technology discipline
  • Minimum of 15 years of relevant experience
  • Strong understanding of the Software Life Cycle, from concept definition to sustainment
  • Ability to think strategically, plan tactically, and execute effectively
  • Experience in leading moderate-sized Software teams
  • Experience in executing within an Agile Software Development environment
  • Understanding of DevSecOps development and deployment environment
  • Strong communication and listening skills, with the ability to effectively interface with both internal and external customers
  • Ability to coach and mentor employees
  • Ability to obtain a Common Access Card, Government Security Clearance and maintain that clearance. The minimum requirement to obtain a Secret Clearance is United States Citizenship. Only Applicants that meet this requirement will be considered.
Responsibilities
  • Develop and present the vision for Detroit Defense’s software strategy that supports our corporate strategy
  • Create and then execute a Software Technology Roadmap that supports long-range strategic planning for the Software organization, and that aligns short-term and mid-term initiatives with specific technology solutions
  • Assess current software capabilities – people, processes, tools, and data – and recommend initiatives to strengthen or expand capabilities needed to support our corporate strategy
  • Interface with Information Technology leadership to communicate needs and put in place the infrastructure needed to support the Software organization’s strategies and plans
  • Coach and mentor software managers and staff in developing their skill sets and advancing their careers
  • Conduct Performance Evaluations with staff, including providing feedback on performance and setting objectives
  • Advocate for employee development and growth opportunities
  • Recognize and celebrate significant employee accomplishments
  • Collaborate with our Growth Department to identify capability areas and skill sets needed to support opportunity pursuits
  • Assess new software-focused business opportunities and perform competitive analysis to support Go/No Go decisions
  • Prepare past performance content for proposal narratives
  • Generate basis of estimates for proposed software efforts
  • Collaborate with the other Technical Departments to provide subject matter expertise when communicating with customers
  • Help resolve software-related program issues
  • Support the development of Software Project Managers
