Buffalo Wild Wings has appointed Scott Nelson as chief marketing officer, where he will oversee all marketing and culinary efforts for the Inspire Brands restaurant chain. Nelson previously served as VP and head of marketing at Tatte Bakery & Café, helping expand the brand to over 50 locations across New England and the Mid-Atlantic. He has also held leadership roles at Panera Bread, Rakuten and Converse, alongside founding multiple ventures. In his new role, Nelson will focus on amplifying the brand's voice, strengthening guest engagement and driving growth. Buffalo Wild Wings brand president Tristan Meline praised Nelson's entrepreneurial approach, combining "big-brand discipline with startup agility". Nelson will build on the chain's sports-led marketing and culturally relevant storytelling whilst continuing to innovate across media and creative.
Dunkin' has signed a master franchising agreement with Canadian restaurant operator Foodtastic to open hundreds of locations across Canada, marking its return to the market after departing in 2017. The first Canadian location is expected to open in late 2026. The deal comes as Dunkin' faces uncertainty internationally. India-based Jubilant FoodWorks announced it will not renew its franchise agreement when it expires at the end of 2026, potentially impacting the chain's presence in the region. Foodtastic and Dunkin' parent company Inspire Brands previously partnered to bring Jimmy John's to Canada in 2024, with seven locations by year-end 2025. In Canada, Dunkin' will compete against Tim Hortons, which operates nearly 3,600 locations and is owned by Restaurant Brands International.
Jimmy John's chief marketing officer Darin Dugan has been promoted to brand president, succeeding James North, who becomes global brand ambassador. Kate Carpenter, previously vice president of integrated marketing, will take over as CMO. Dugan becomes only the third person to lead Jimmy John's since its founding in 1983. The chain now operates 2,600 restaurants across 44 US states and recently expanded internationally to Canada, El Salvador and South Korea. Dugan joined parent company Inspire Brands in 2018 through its Sonic Drive-In acquisition and moved to Jimmy John's as CMO. Inspire Brands, which also owns Arby's, Buffalo Wild Wings, Dunkin' and Baskin-Robbins, acquired Jimmy John's in 2019. Carpenter joined the sandwich chain in October 2023, bringing experience from Papa John's and Coca-Cola.
The parent company of Dunkin’ and Buffalo Wild Wings bought the firm for an undisclosed sum, marking its first deal since its $11.3 billion Dunkin’ buy.
