Requirements
  • An Associate's degree is required, although combined experience and education may substitute for the minimum education.
  • At least 1 year of experience is required.
  • Experience in facilities management is required.
  • A valid California driver's license is required, with participation in the Department of Motor Vehicles Pull Notice System and submission of a DMV record as a final employment condition.
  • The role requires knowledge of departmental and University policies and procedures and applicable government and industry standards.

Responsibilities
  • Provide customer service to students, faculty, staff and external customers by meeting customer needs, offering options, resolving problems, following up with customers, and ensuring full customer satisfaction.
  • Recruit, screen, hire, train and directly supervise all assigned subordinate staff.
  • Evaluate employee performance and provide guidance and feedback; counsel, discipline and/or terminate employees as required.
  • Schedule, assign and prioritize workloads, manage assigned projects to completion, obtain estimates, make recommendations, monitor project progress daily, and ensure timely completion of departmental work.
  • Manage the onsite facility, regularly open or close the department, and ensure that the department is neat, orderly and sufficiently stocked.
  • Conduct daily building inspections, identify and resolve immediate operational issues, and coordinate building maintenance and repairs with Housing Maintenance that affect normal building operation.
  • Resolve difficult customer problems and inform the Director of customer issues, suggestions or requests.
  • Research, develop and implement policies and procedures to improve department operations.
  • Identify training needs and provide staff training for cleaning, proper chemical use and safety.
  • Serve as a Campus Security Authority and mandatory reporter under the Clery Act; receive reports of crimes or criminal incidents, notify the Department of Public Safety of serious crimes or incidents indicating an ongoing threat, and notify the Clery Compliance Coordinator.
  • Develop and implement security procedures covering office opening and closing routines, recognition of duress signals and key controls.
  • Coordinate security activities with the University Public Safety Department, promote security-conscious standards and behavior, maintain knowledge of crime prevention and suppression programs and services, and disseminate security information to staff.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned or requested.
