- Sign and seal survey work while serving in responsible charge under land-surveyor licensure.
- Secure data using a wide range of field survey equipment.
- Establish and apply procedures to manage the history, locations, access, and format of survey-related project files.
- Complete work processes using survey, computer-aided design and drafting, digital terrain-modeling software, and other non-computer-aided design and drafting applications.
- Conduct professional land-surveying activities for transportation projects from scoping through post-construction.
- Prepare technical reports for public- or private-sector audiences.
- Plan, supervise, and execute special survey requests from residencies, right of way, environmental agencies, traffic engineering, and consultants.
- Develop construction-activity lists and estimate costs for state or contractor construction surveying.
- Perform survey functions according to project schedules and in support of Virginia Department of Transportation programs.
- Complete construction stakeouts based on project schedules.
- Coordinate projects and manpower with the District Survey Manager.
- Perform field and office quality-control reviews to ensure survey products are accurate and depict project controls and supporting data.
- Review plans and plats at different developmental stages for compliance with standards.
- Provide daily supervision to work crews in field or office environments while following applicable policies, procedures, and processes.
- A combination of training, experience, or education in Civil Engineering, Land Surveying, or a related field.
- Ability to implement project-management practices supporting budget compliance and project deadlines.
- Ability to review consultant survey data provided to the Virginia Department of Transportation.
- Skill in providing customer service.
