Requirements
  • A high school diploma or GED is required.
  • At least 3 years of retail banking experience, combining Teller and Customer Service Representative experience, is required.
  • One to two years of bank supervisory experience in either the teller unit or platform is required; being fully cross-trained is preferred.
  • Ability to develop and maintain detailed knowledge of banking products and services.
  • Ability to provide solutions to customer issues using problem-solving skills.
  • Confident, professional, and positive demeanor when interacting with customers.
  • Excellent interpersonal, verbal, written, and phone communication skills.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Basic knowledge of Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Sound judgment and discretion when handling confidential information.
  • Availability for weekend work, extended hours, or coverage at neighboring branch locations may be required.
  • Occasional travel may be required for mandatory training.
  • Visa sponsorship is not available.
Responsibilities
  • Provide prompt, courteous, and efficient service to new and existing customers by processing monetary and account-related transactions.
  • Support branch sales and service efforts by acquiring new clients and offering suitable products and services.
  • Perform branch platform functions and process account maintenance transactions.
  • Assume managerial duties when branch management is absent.
  • Approve or override transactions, open new accounts, resolve issues, and educate customers about bank products and services.
  • Refer customers to licensed representatives of ABS Associates of NY, Inc. when appropriate.
  • Support branch management with opening and closing the branch.
  • Resolve service-related issues promptly and efficiently.
  • Communicate the features of products, accounts, and services to current and prospective clients.
  • Oversee the assigned branch in a leadership capacity when branch management is absent.
  • Approve or override financial transactions using due diligence and sound judgment to minimize risk and potential loss.
  • Assist with training and mentoring newly hired Tellers, Customer Service Representatives, and Universal Bankers.
  • Ensure staff adherence to customer service standards and new-account procedures, including Customer Identification Program and Bank Secrecy Act requirements.
  • Guide customer-facing staff in handling difficult or complex problems.
  • Assist with issue resolution, escalate issues to appropriate business partners when needed, and seek favorable outcomes for the bank and customers.
  • Open, close, and oversee the banking office under established guidelines when required.
  • Identify opportunities to acquire new or additional banking relationships by discussing customer and prospect needs and offering suitable products and services.
  • Assist with opening and closing the vault, safe, and automated teller machine, and maintain an orderly, properly supplied customer area.
  • Communicate disclosures, rules, regulations, and Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation protection when opening new accounts.
  • Ensure accurate new-account record keeping and complete timely follow-up.
  • Adhere to regulatory, compliance, security, audit, code-of-conduct, and operational-control policies and procedures.
  • Perform additional duties as requested.
