Requirements
  • A four-year degree and/or Paralegal Certificate with a minimum of 5 years of mortgage servicing experience and understanding of government-sponsored enterprise and insurer servicing guidelines.
  • Knowledge of legal processes and civil rules of procedure, with the ability to decipher complex legal pleadings and allegations in mortgage servicing and real property matters.
  • Proficiency with mortgage servicing platforms and the Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Ability to analyze mortgage industry documents, calculate timeframes, and accurately evaluate potential costs and losses.
  • Superior professional, organizational, written, and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present complex material to all levels of management.
  • Advanced organizational skills and the ability to work independently, manage multiple priorities, and meet critical deadlines.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with internal legal teams and external partners.
  • Demonstrated research skills.
Responsibilities
  • Independently manage and track a high-volume portfolio of litigated files pertaining to real property law.
  • Maintain a comprehensive electronic case file for each matter.
  • Analyze and research legal pleadings, evaluate attorney findings, and use servicing system data to assess litigation risk and potential financial exposure.
  • Collaborate with in-house and outside counsel to formulate litigation strategies, draft responses to lawsuits, monitor case progress, and conduct strategic research for pre-litigation customer disputes.
  • Serve as the company's designated corporate representative at mediations, settlement conferences, depositions, and trials to present and defend the company's position.
  • Retrieve and provide loan-level documentation and data from servicing systems to outside counsel and business partners for discovery and defense.
  • Organize, research, and deliver professional presentations on escalated cases, strategy, and risk to upper management.
  • Oversee accurate processing and timely payment of outside counsel invoices.
  • Write department policies and procedures, develop job aids, and provide business contact support.
  • Assist in developing, writing, and formalizing department policies and procedures to improve litigation support operations.
  • Provide guidance and training to other specialists on complex litigation procedures and best practices as needed.
