Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree in human services, psychology, social work, or related field required.
  • Two years in case management or discharge planning required.
  • One to two years’ experience in behavioral health or medical field preferred.
  • Formal training in the management of the aggressive patient (Nonviolent Crisis Intervention or NCI) required within sixty (60) days of date of hire.
  • Annual re-certification of NCI required.
  • American Red Cross Professional Rescue certification required within thirty (30) days of date of hire, with bi-annual re-certification required.
  • Attend all mandatory in-services and other in-services relevant to the position, including obligations pertaining to the license or regulatory requirements governing the program(s).
  • Valid driver's license and certification as applicable.
Responsibilities
  • Supports the clinical team in delivering cognitive and other therapeutic services to program patients according to clinical standards of care and under supervision.
  • Works with treatment teams to design and implement Cognitive Behavioral Therapy specific behavioral interventions, such as Exposure Therapy.
  • Identify resources based on patient’s access and needs.
  • Ensure patients have appropriate discharge resources internally with step ups/downs or externally in the community in coordination with medical and therapeutic teams.
  • Complete discharge documentation and discharge plan as required in coordination with patient discharge.
  • Arrange for aftercare or outside care appointments in collaboration with the therapist or medical team.
  • Support and lead patient education groups under the direction or in collaboration with the clinical team.
  • Conduct expressive group activities to enhance patient experience (arts and crafts, music, games, psychodrama) in cooperation with the experiential therapist.
  • Assist with arrival, dismissal, lunch, and transitional patient activities, including supervising children and adolescents during lunchtime.
  • Perform admissions tasks to ease access to patient care, including front desk coverage.
  • Work with individual patients and implement treatment plans when providing coverage for Behavior Specialist and non-licensed duties of Therapist staff as needed.
  • In coordination with the medical and clinical team, collect or perform medical testing, UDS, vitals, screening requirements, safety protocols, census management activities, etc.
  • Participate in multidisciplinary treatment team meetings as requested.
  • Monitor dietary intake of patients as requested by the clinical team.
  • Provide structured therapeutic milieu management, teaching and reinforcing positive patterns of social, educational, personal behavior and coping skills.
  • Support or influence behavior management plans and programs for all patients and implement each program.
  • Complete educational assessments upon admission, inform schools of admission, and collaborate with them on progress toward transition back to school.
  • Collect and document patient progress in the treatment plan, including education goals and progress toward goals.
  • Act as an NCI trainer.
  • Perform other duties as assigned within the education, license, experience, and training constraints.
