Requirements
- A prime candidate would have an electrical education and a mechanical aptitude (EE, AAS, 5+ years experience)
- Familiar with Solidworks electrical, or similar CAD software, for cable schematics and design
- Knowledge of various signal and communication standards, such as RS-232, RS-422, Serial Rapid I/O (SRIO), XAUI, Ethernet, SpaceWire (ECSS-E-ST-50-12), telemetry, MIL-STD-1553, Low Voltage Digital Signaling (LVDS), and SGMII
- Familiar with fiber optic cabling, including wire types, contacts, and connectors for space flight
- Familiar with Vector Network Analyzers (VNA) for collecting S-parameter data on PCBs, RF, and High-Speed cables, as well as the ability to analyze data to determine link budgets
Responsibilities
- Design cable assemblies and interconnects which meet the requirements of the interface standard for use in GSE applications. Interface with other groups to ensure the functionality and manufacturability of design approaches. Manage and release drawings for assemblies. Maintain bill of materials for assemblies
- Design complete cable and test configurations, including bulkhead design, for all Electromagnetic Interference (EMI) testing to MIL-STD-461, ensuring proper shielding, lengths, and maintaining signal integrity when required
- Design complete cable and test configurations, including bulkhead design, for all Thermal Vacuum (TVAC) testing, meeting outgassing requirements defined in ASTM E595
- Coordinate scheduling with program leadership
- Assist manufacturing with documentation, tooling, and support
- Design cable assemblies for flight applications to customer requirements
- Assist in the improvement and documentation of SEAKR processes
Desired Qualifications
- Familiar with requirements and quality standards such as NASA-STD-8739.4 and IPC/WHMA-A-620 is a plus
