Requirements
  • Hold a current Registered Nurse license issued by the state in which services will be provided or a current multistate Registered Nurse license through the enhanced Nurse Licensure Compact.
  • Obtain Basic Life Support certification within 30 days of the hire date.
  • Have two years of registered nursing experience.
  • Demonstrate regularly serving as a charge nurse and/or precepting new staff or nursing students.
  • Complete annual education related to specialty accreditation requirements when applicable.
  • Possess interpersonal skills to communicate, negotiate, and resolve conflict effectively.
  • Use competent clinical practice and critical thinking skills to deliver patient care efficiently.
  • Work independently with minimal supervision and adapt to changing workloads, work assignments, staffing, and scheduling changes.
  • Work successfully under highly stressful conditions.
  • Meet the applicable experience, degree, and certification requirements for advancement within the CAPE clinical ladder.
Responsibilities
  • Prioritize patients' diagnoses, problems, issues, and mutual goals to meet patient and healthcare-team needs.
  • Serve as a resource for patient and family learning needs.
  • Coordinate with the interprofessional team to manage changing priorities.
  • Function as an independent team member to provide safe, quality care for patients.
  • Mentor colleagues in acquiring clinical knowledge, skills, abilities, and judgment.
  • Participate in developing and continuously improving systems that support the patient-care planning process.
  • Lead interprofessional teams in effective collaboration and consultation.
  • Design innovations to improve outcomes.
  • Assist other nurses in developing research skills.
  • Participate in collaborative planning to provide safe, high-quality, patient-centered healthcare.
  • Participate in developing, implementing, reviewing, and adhering to policies that promote patient health and safety.
  • Advocate for healthcare consumers' rights to inform decision-making and self-determination.
  • Demonstrate leadership skills within the community and healthcare arena.
  • Engage healthcare consumers and interprofessional team members in holistic, culturally sensitive data collection.
  • Integrate global and environmental factors into the assessment process.
  • Identify resources and actions to address cultural situations appropriately.
  • Recognize personal bias.
  • Disseminate educational findings and experiences to colleagues.
  • Pursue higher education and training in support of lifelong learning.
  • Identify appropriate resources for ethical dilemmas and advance ethical nursing practice.
  • Provide professional nursing care for patients in an inpatient hospital setting.
Desired Qualifications
  • A Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) or higher is preferred.
  • Specialty certification is preferred but not required for Level 3.
