Responsibilities
  • Design, develop, document, test, and debug new and existing software systems and/or applications
  • Determine systems software design requirements
  • Ensures that system improvements are successfully implemented and monitored to increase efficiency
  • Serve as a technical expert on development projects
  • Participate in the full development life cycle including requirements analysis and design
  • Write technical specifications based on conceptual design and stated business requirements
  • Support, maintain, and document software functionality
  • Identify and evaluate new technologies for implementation
  • Use programming, scripting, and/or database languages to write software code
  • Analyze code to find causes of errors and revise programs as needed
  • Support software testing, deployment, maintenance, and evolution activities by correcting programming errors, responding to scope changes, and coding software enhancements
  • Apply knowledge of software development best practices, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations
  • Participate in software design meetings and analyze user needs to determine technical requirements
  • Consult with end users to prototype, refine, test, and debug programs to meet needs
  • Generate systems software engineering policies, standards, and procedures
  • May participate in all aspects of software development, from detailed programming to high-level system design
  • Assume other duties as assigned.
