Requirements
  • At least 1 year of experience working with children with Autism Spectrum Disorder.
  • A Master's Degree in Occupational Therapy.
  • Experience and familiarity with assessment tools, including standardized tests.
  • Knowledge of current research and literature in the occupational therapy field.
  • Membership in COTBC, COTO, or ACOT, or eligibility to apply.
  • Must be authorized to work in Canada.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Ability to take initiative.
  • Flexibility in scheduling clients.
Responsibilities
  • Assess client needs and family priorities as part of an interdisciplinary team.
  • Complete assessments using standardized tests, criterion- or curriculum-referenced materials, or checklists.
  • Develop and implement a treatment plan for each client based on assessment results.
  • Develop reports as required.
  • Consult with Behaviour Analysts who supervise Applied Behaviour Analysis programs for children with Autism Spectrum Disorder and other needs.
  • Work collaboratively with families and other community professionals.
  • Maintain knowledge of current evidence-based practices.
  • Collect data and make evidence-based treatment decisions.
  • Supervise students pursuing education in Occupational Therapy.
  • Represent the Occupational Therapy department at Monarch House by contributing to clinical policies, procedures, and centre-wide initiatives.

Monarch House is an interdisciplinary treatment center in British Columbia that serves individuals with autism and their families and offers a wide range of services for diverse academic, behavioural, communication, learning, motor, physical, speech, social, and mental health needs. It improves access to services, coordinates treatment, and focuses on measurable outcomes across the lifespan. Services can be delivered at its centers, at home or school, in the community, or in specialized housing, with staff tailoring plans for each person. Core offerings include assessments, medical diagnoses, direct and group therapy, consultations, day programs for adults with developmental disabilities, tutoring, recreation, research, training, and parent support, along with ongoing learning to improve treatments.
