IENG 2P12 - Applied Artificial Intelligence
Compensation
Teaching Assistant, Course Coordinator and Lab Demonstrator positions are paid according to the qualifications that the employee holds.
· Employees who do NOT hold a 4-year honours degree or a 3-year pass degree will be paid the undergraduate rate - $22.07 per hour. (Rate effective September 1, 2024)
· Employees who hold a 4-year honours degree or a 3-year pass degree will be paid the graduate rate - $34.73 per hour. (Rate effective September 1, 2024)
· In cases where additional duties are required as part of a Teaching Assistant’s duties, these hours shall be compensated at the appropriate Teaching Assistant rate.
Duties
The duties and responsibilities of the Teaching Assistant shall be in accordance with Article 22 of the CUPE Local 4207, Unit 1, Collective Agreement. These include scheduled contact time with students (leading weekly lab sessions, answering student questions, and holding office hours) and non-classroom time (preparation of tutorial content, marking/grading, exam proctoring, and other course-related administrative duties).
Qualifications
• Proficient in Python and familiar with Jupyter Notebooks or Google Colab
• Experience with AI/ML libraries: scikit-learn, PyTorch or TensorFlow
• Solid understanding of core AI concepts (e.g., search, optimization, classification, neural networks)
• Strong communication and troubleshooting skills
Preferred/Good to have:
• Familiarity with Git/GitHub and basic data visualization
• Background in engineering applications of AI
