Requirements
  • A bachelor's degree or higher from an approved program in occupational therapy.
  • A current Occupational Therapist license in the State of Alabama; a temporary permit is acceptable.
  • Current Basic Life Support/HealthCare Provider certification.
  • Competency in the use, care, and maintenance of profession-specific equipment.
  • Compliance with the State Practice Act, Standards of Practice, organizational policies, and applicable regulatory requirements.
Responsibilities
  • Evaluate patients by gathering data from patients, physicians, interdisciplinary team meetings when available, family members, significant others, and other data sources.
  • Develop treatment plans that integrate with the continuum of care and include specific goals and objectives.
  • Provide age-appropriate care based on patient status and identified needs.
  • Use, care for, and maintain profession-specific equipment while observing safety precautions and explaining the equipment and its purpose.
  • Re-evaluate and modify treatment plans and goals when appropriate, and prepare required written documentation.
  • Recognize and communicate when patients have received optimal benefit from therapy.
  • Complete documentation and ensure accurate billing.
  • Provide patient and family education as indicated.
  • Maintain regular and punctual attendance consistent with applicable policies and laws.
  • Participate in performance improvement, program development, student supervision, assigned committees, safety, and infection-control activities as required.
  • Attend rehabilitation meetings, in-services, and required patient-care meetings.
  • Use and select supplies and equipment efficiently.
  • Instruct support personnel in their duties as necessary.
