Requirements
  • A minimum of three years of experience as a registered nurse, including one year in teaching or clinical supervision, or three years of experience in nursing administration or nursing education within the last five years.
  • Knowledge of state, federal, and local laws and regulations relating to programs, governmental compliance, Title IV, ABHES, BVNPT, BPPE, and other accreditation standards.
  • Leadership knowledge in the nursing program field to cultivate a learner-centered environment and foster excellence.
  • A minimum baccalaureate degree in nursing or a related field from an accredited academic institution recognized by the United States Secretary of Education or the Council for Higher Education Accreditation.
  • Completion of coursework from an accredited school in administration, teaching, and curriculum development.
  • A current unencumbered California Registered Nurse license.
  • Approval by the Board of Vocational Nursing and Psychiatric Technicians before assuming the Assistant Director of Nursing role.
  • A certificate of completion for at least 30 hours of coursework in teaching methodology.
  • A current cardiopulmonary resuscitation card.
Responsibilities
  • Assist with providing leadership in managing and implementing a comprehensive post-secondary adult vocational nursing program in support of college, campus, and departmental goals.
  • Ensure compliance with programmatic accreditation and licensure requirements, internal consistency, and graduate outcomes that meet workplace and placement expectations.
  • Participate in budget preparation and fiscal administration.
  • Participate in curriculum development and coordination, ATI metric management, and data analysis.
  • Determine teaching assignments, supervise and evaluate faculty, and select theory instructors.
  • Provide professional leadership and support for teaching faculty.
  • Serve as a mentor and facilitator for assigned faculty and foster an environment of creativity, responsiveness, and self-responsibility.
