Active DoD Top Secret (TS) or equivalent US Government security clearance
Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field
2+ years of experience in applied signal processing or RF testing
Strong understanding of signal processing theory
Software programming experience using either Python, C, or equivalent language
Excellent organizational, engineering, and communications skills
Able to work individually and as a member of a team
Willing to work in a secure US Government facility
Interest in solving open-ended problems

Responsibilities

Configures and operates RF test equipment to capture emissions from microelectronic devices
Implements signal filtering and amplification for optimal signal collection
Develops custom digital signal processing techniques in software
Studies cyber-physical threats to embedded systems published in scientific journals and presented at conferences
Documents findings in technical reports and presentations
Collaborates with hardware security researchers
Coordinates with laboratory manager to acquire RF components and instrumentation
Other duties as required

Desired Qualifications

MS or PhD in Electrical Engineering or a related field
Experience with embedded hardware (VHDL, Verilog) or software (C, Assembly)
Statistical signal processing experience or course work
Experience using RF design or simulation software

The Riverside Research Engineering and Support Solutions (ESS) Division conducts Research and Development (R&D) of cyber-physical attacks against embedded systems. The RF Research Engineer will perform theoretical and hands-on work to study electromagnetic emissions from microelectronic devices. They will use RF measurement equipment, analog and digital signal processing techniques, and custom analysis software to test embedded systems in a laboratory environment. This position is located at WPAFB, OH with travel expected two to four times a year.
