Position Overview:
The HR Generalist is responsible for managing daily HR functions across a growing network of charter schools, ensuring compliance with federal, state, and local laws. This role will support various HR initiatives including employee relations, benefits administration, recruitment and performance management. The HR Generalist plays a key role in maintaining a positive work culture and enhancing employee engagement while providing HR support to school leaders and staff across multiple campuses in the Southeast US. Much of the role will include the development and maintenance of new HR systems, structures, and processes that can scale.
Key Responsibilities:
Recruitment & Onboarding
Partner with school leaders to manage the full recruitment cycle: support leader use of ATS and PEO platform to post job openings, screen candidates, coordinate interviews, and make job offers.
Facilitate new hire orientation for CMO employees, ensuring all documentation and training are completed for a smooth onboarding process.
Employee Relations
Serve as the primary contact for employee inquiries regarding policies, benefits, and HR-related matters.
Address employee concerns and grievances, conducting thorough investigations and recommending resolutions in alignment with school policies.
Foster a positive workplace culture by supporting employee engagement initiatives and organizing team-building activities.
Performance Management & Development
Assist in the administration of performance review processes, ensuring clear communication between supervisors and employees.Support the development of professional development programs and opportunities for staff.
Track staff development plans and provide support in goal-setting and performance improvement plans.
Benefits & Compensation:
Administer employee benefits, including health insurance, retirement plans, and other perks, ensuring compliance with benefit regulations.
Provide guidance to employees regarding benefits enrollment, eligibility, and questions.Conduct annual benefit review sessions to ensure employees understand their compensation packages.
Compliance & Policy Management:Ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local employment laws, including FMLA, ADA, FLSA, and EEO regulations.
Update and maintain employee handbook and other policy documents to reflect current regulations and best practices.
Support payroll processing by coordinating with the payroll team, ensuring accurate employee records and adherence to wage and hour laws.
HRIS & Data Management:
Maintain employee records in the Human Resources Information System (HRIS), ensuring data accuracy and confidentiality.
Generate reports on HR metrics such as turnover, recruitment, and employee engagement, presenting findings to HR leadership.
Assist in HRIS training and support for staff as needed.
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field required.SHRM-CP or SHRM-SCP certification preferred.
3+ years of experience in a generalist HR role, preferably in an educational or multi-site environment.
Strong knowledge of HR laws and regulations, with the ability to ensure organizational compliance.
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build strong relationships at all levels of the organization.
Proficiency in HRIS/PEO systems and Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) and or Google Suite. Experience working in a charter school, public school, or educational setting is a plus.

Work Environment:
This position operates in both an office setting and within school environments, requiring regular travel between school campuses and occasional travel to other states where we have campuses. The HR Generalist may need to attend off-site meetings, professional development workshops, and school events.
