Requirements

Responsibilities
  • Lead and oversee the University's materials management policies, objectives, and initiatives.
  • Ensure the purchase of raw materials, supplies, and equipment needed to meet institutional needs.
  • Ensure the University meets its strategic, operational, service, financial, and quality performance goals.
  • Negotiate and contract for the procurement of materials, supplies, services, and capital equipment.
  • Oversee the receipt, storage, and distribution of supplies.
  • Review spend analytics trends and identify ways to minimize costs and improve efficiency.
  • Act as a liaison to other departments to resolve discrepancies and ensure timely payments to suppliers.
  • Maintain professional growth and development through seminars, workshops, and professional affiliations.
  • Train and oversee department staff and mentor staff and other departments on materials management issues.
  • Coordinate system upgrades and the use of new software applications.
  • Consider environmental concerns when selecting supplies and equipment.
  • Assist in preparing annual departmental operating and capital budgets.
  • Oversee Joint Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations compliance and mandated service-level improvements within assigned areas.
  • Implement leading-practice supply processes and efficiencies in nursing, clinical, and procedural areas.
  • Become familiar with department systems, including enterprise resource planning, Point of Use, and Q-Sight.
  • Design and maintain an efficient logistics system across all UHealth campuses and satellite locations.
  • Collaborate with internal departments on vendor access availability and policies.
  • Design applicable metrics and hold teams accountable to meet them.
  • Maintain the integrity of the Inventory Management Information System to ensure adequate supply levels at all sites and reconcile discrepancies.
  • Manage and coordinate par-level storage locations, including crash carts.
  • Oversee inventory control processes to ensure accurate supply levels, minimize waste, and maintain cost efficiency.
