Requirements
  • Primary care doctor with experience preferred but new residency grads also welcome.
  • Valid and unrestricted license issued by the Medical Board of California to practice medicine.
  • Board certified or Board Eligible in specified area of medical specialty.
  • Current registration issued by the Drug Enforcement Administration allowing the prescription of drugs.
  • Prior work experience in outpatient health care setting - Federally Qualified Health Center is desired.
  • EPIC Electronic Health Records experiences is a plus.
  • Must maintain Continued Medical Education as required for certification renewals.
  • Bilingual English/Spanish preferred.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills in English.
  • Ability to see an average of 18-24 patients per day depending on FTE schedule.
  • Must be CPR Certified.
  • Ability to observe, to assess, and to record symptoms, reactions, and progress.
  • Knowledge of legal and ethical standards for the delivery of medical care.
  • Knowledge of relevant drugs and non-pharmaceutical patient care aids and ability to prescribe dosages and instruct patients in correct usage.
  • Knowledge of community medical diagnostic and patient care services in area of medical expertise.
  • Ability to maintain quality, safety, and/or infection control standards.
  • Knowledge of current principles, methods, and procedures for the delivery of medical evaluation, diagnosis, and treatment in area of expertise.
  • Ability to supervise, lead, provide advice, and train clinical professionals, PAs/FNPS and/or students in area of expertise.
  • Ability to work both independently and in a team environment.
  • Prolonged standing, walking, and prolonged periods sitting at desk and working on a computer.
  • Must be able to lift to 25 pounds at times and move medical equipment.
  • Fine motor hand movements typical of performing standard job duties.
  • Able to read charts graphs and readings on medical equipment.
Responsibilities
  • Provides and manages direct patient care, including physical examinations, evaluations, assessments, diagnosis, and treatment for a specified patient population.
  • Prescribes pharmaceuticals, other medications, and treatment regimens as appropriate to assessed medical conditions.
  • Refers patients to specialists and to relevant patient care components as appropriate.
  • Follows established departmental policies, procedures, and objectives.
  • Maintains a professional relationship with staff and patients.
  • Performs other related and/or necessary tasks to achieve clinic goals and objectives, as directed by the Medical Director.
  • Care team responsibilities as outlined in the Care Team Patient Center Medical Home Procedures.
  • In addition to regularly scheduled shifts, is able to work a minimum of three (3) 4-hour Saturday shifts per calendar year, providing medical care to patients within the standard scope of practice. Requirement begins after 90-day training period. Compensation for coverage to be outlined in offer.
  • In addition to regularly schedule shifts, is available to respond to after-hour calls regarding critical lab results for adult patients throughout the organization for a minimum of 2 weeks per year, this includes pager responsibilities. Requirement begins after 90-day training period and compensation for coverage to be outlined in offer.
  • Other duties as assigned.
