Better Health Group provides a primary care platform that helps physicians transition from traditional billing to value-based healthcare. The company integrates patient data from medical records, prescriptions, and hospital visits to provide doctors with specific care suggestions while handling administrative tasks like billing and quality reporting. Unlike traditional management groups, it offers a flexible model where doctors can either remain independent partners or become employees at company-owned clinics. The company's goal is to shift the medical industry from reactive "sick care" to proactive health management by taking on financial risk to improve patient outcomes and lower costs.

Simplify's Take

What believers are saying

  • Six straight years of ACO shared savings strengthens renewals with Medicare Advantage and MSSP partners.
  • August 2026 expansion broadens referral volume and creates new de novo clinic openings.
  • Active hiring and 163 job postings in 2026 show continued operating investment despite restructuring noise.

What critics are saying

  • A 2023 federal qui tam case in Northern Georgia keeps fraud and billing scrutiny alive.
  • Bloomberg reported January 2025 debt-restructuring stress, signaling capital structure fragility if reimbursement weakens.
  • If shared-savings performance slips, health-plan economics collapse and Kinderhook’s platform loses employer and physician trust.

What makes Better Health Group unique

  • Better Health Group operates 1,200+ providers across value-based primary care and MSO services.
  • CMS ranked its ACOs top 5% for 2023 Medicare Shared Savings Program performance.
  • It expanded into Alabama and Oklahoma in August 2026, proving repeatable multi-state playbooks.
