Requirements
  • At least 6 years of safety experience.
  • Experience managing safety efforts on large construction projects is preferred.
  • Prior field experience is preferred.
  • Ability to administer safety orientations and oversee a substance abuse program.
  • Ability to investigate and report injuries, illnesses, and near misses and perform other on-site safety functions.
  • Ability to work with construction management, owners, trades, and subcontractors.
  • Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions with exposure to health and safety hazards, including moderate to loud noise.
  • Ability to walk job sites, climb ladders and scaffolding, lift loads up to 50 pounds, and perform hands-on work when necessary.
  • Ability to use the hands for handling, controlling, or feeling; reach with the hands and arms; climb or balance; and bend, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
  • Ability to work in changing locations and travel as required.
Responsibilities
  • Monitor the safety efforts of subcontractors and company employees.
  • Discuss safety matters with on-site subcontractor supervisory personnel.
  • Coordinate with project supervision to ensure required personal protective equipment and safety materials are used.
  • Record and forward safety-related meetings, programs, safety pre-plans, inspections, correspondence, directives, and citations to the Safety Director for tracking.
  • Coordinate responses and compliance with inspection report requirements from the company’s insurance provider.
  • Conduct documented project safety and health inspections.
  • Investigate injuries and review accident reports, coordinating corrective measures with company employees and subcontractor personnel.
  • Maintain current required safety documents and literature.
  • Monitor public protection by minimizing construction hazards.
  • Monitor the maintenance of adequate first-aid supplies.
  • Maintain the Occupational Safety and Health Administration 300 log of injuries and illnesses.
  • Implement company safety policies, procedures, and programs.
  • Work directly with the Safety Manager, project managers, and superintendents to integrate safety into every project.
  • Coordinate compliance with the company’s Storm Water Pollution Prevention Plans.
