Requirements
  • 5+ years of experience in design, build, and testing of rocket engine or rocket stage valve hardware
  • Extensive experience with mechanical design, CAD software, engineering drawings (GD&T per ASME Y14.5), and configuration management (Siemens NX and Teamcenter preferred)
  • Proficiency with operation and testing of hazardous pneumatic systems, cryogenic tests, as well as executing environmental tests (vibration, thermal cycle, thermal vacuum cycle)
  • Extensive experience with stress analysis hand calculations and FEA (Ansys preferred)
  • Exceptional command of fundamentals, including compressible flow, thermodynamics, control systems, cryogenics, and instrumentation
  • Hands on experience performing fabrication, assembly, and development of valve hardware
  • Strong knowledge of systems engineering fundamentals, and ability to apply that knowledge in practical ways to a fast-paced development program
  • Proficiency with aerospace standard fasteners, seals, tubing, fittings, and commercial off the shelf hardware
  • Proficiency with fluid analysis tools (Siemens AMESim, Thermal Desktop, Python, EES, REFPROP, or equivalent)
  • Experience in an AS9100-compliant efficient manufacturing production system

Responsibilities
  • Perform architectural trades for valve design, conceptual design, detailed design, and release of hardware, ensuring that the design conforms to fluid or engine system requirements
  • Work with the fluid systems team to develop the stage and engine P&IDs in accordance with valve design capabilities
  • Perform structural and CFD analysis
  • Develop test tooling (power supplies, fluid panels, flow setups, vibe fixturing, etc.) required to perform thorough component-level development, qualification, and acceptance testing processes
  • Support stage and/or engine testing that takes place in Kent or Moses Lake, WA
  • Track, resolve, and prevent non-conformances on valve hardware
  • Support procurement activities on purchased valves (as needed) and any piece-part components (machined parts, seals, fasteners, etc.)
  • Work with the manufacturing teams to develop a high-rate production line for your valve designs
