Requirements
  • A master's degree in second language teaching, Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages, or a related discipline.
  • Two years of experience teaching English as a Second Language at the college or university level.
  • Previous experience teaching this course or an equivalent English as a Second Language course.
  • Experience with team-teaching.
  • Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages certification or equivalent.
  • An acceptable combination of education and experience may be considered equivalent to the stated educational requirement and demonstrated experience.
  • Ability to successfully complete all mandatory legislated training required under provincial law.
Responsibilities
  • Lead the Teaching English as a Foreign Language Methodology stream of the Student Teaching in English Program for undergraduate students.
  • Prepare participants to deliver online English courses through communicative language teaching principles, lesson planning, online delivery, teaching the four skills, classroom management, feedback, micro-teaching, peer debriefing, and development of a practical lesson-planning portfolio.
  • Design and facilitate engaging, student-centred sessions.
  • Integrate relevant digital teaching tools.
  • Create and evaluate assignments.
  • Support micro-teaching and structured peer feedback.
  • Collaborate with the instructor and teaching assistant in the English Language Development and Language Enrichment components to ensure curriculum coherence and pedagogical alignment.
