Requirements
  • Expertise with analysis and test of thermal, mechanical and electrical components
  • General knowledge of applied material properties
  • Creative problem solving and strong organizational skills
  • Excellent communication skills; includes both oral and written
  • Ability to work well in a team environment and work in a matrix organization
  • Mechanical design with CAD tools (e.g. Solidworks)
  • Exposure to working in a cleanroom environment is a plus
  • Prior programming background (python, Matlab), electronics prototyping knowledge (Arduino, National Instruments) or finite element analysis (COMSOL, Abaqus) is a plus
  • BA/BS or Master’s degree in materials, mechanical engineering, chemical engineering, aerospace engineering, physical sciences or related disciplines
  • 0-3 years of experience
  • U.S. Citizenship
Responsibilities
  • Fabricate samples for materials testing and component evaluation
  • Prepare feedstock materials for additive manufacturing
  • Test prototypes and characterize materials
  • Work with the team to design prototype demonstrations, as well as fixturing and test systems to test material behavior and components in relevant environments
  • Find and engage vendors, and work with machine shop
  • Summarize findings in written reports and oral presentations
